ahh come on now, ;) you just need to get up at 2am :o  :? like I did,
fuel up at Chevron and away you go!

Steelhead has a lot of good info,

try a little shallower early on, then deeper if you need to, 20 inch leaders and stack 2 lines/rods on your downriggers and you should do better next time out....

2am...I'm just leaving the bar... ;) Thanks for note about the long leaders (my problem) anyone have a suspicion as to why the very short leaders work for sockeye? is it the increased movement from the flasher?

Hey Steelhead

On a slightly different note, what song is that on your stinger tying video?

Thanks

Sorry to beak off, hope all who read this forum have more ramp etiquette that I saw today.
A classic that I haven't seen in years, funny but not funny: 2 guys, one truck/trailer/boat, at least 1/2 hour. They parked at top of ramp to 'last minute' prep their boat. They parked close enough to the ramp that no one could use that side. BUT to make it absolutely crazy they were far enough into the turn around area that no one else could easily get to the ramp. Saw them taking canvas off, mounting DRs, etc etc.
Thankfully my rig is small enough that I could sneak in and trailer my boat without much hassle. A crew with a bigger rig wasn't looking happy about their forced wait. Who can blame them?

As I drove by I politely complimented the 'considerate' boater on his new boat, he said something to the effect that he had had it for years and was confused by my comment lol. I doubt he understood why someone might think he was new to boating.

Thankfully there aren't many of these types around, and thankfully it wasn't crazy busy while he did his thing.

How hard is it to pull out of the way while one gets set to launch?

Maybe I should have a nap now, must be tired & cranky to have wrote this out.

Anyhow, the good news is that fishing was GREAT in the canal!

Smiley.
