New to the board thought I would give it a try... I was wondering if anyone else in the Comox valley area is still managing to catch fish and is it true there is a late run of coho coming?

I don't know if much is going on in your local waters right now, but "fish" of some kind in the form of salmon are available year-round, typically, feeder or "winter" springs. The "hump" in front of Kitty Coleman can be very productive at times, but watch the weather and tides because if it is windy and the tide is ripping through it is difficult to stay in the target zone (deep, 180-200ft on your riggers) not to mention dangerous for smaller boats. Campbell river has had excellent feeder spring fishing in recent years. The season runs from now till around the hearing spawn in most coastal areas. As for coho and a late run, I would'nt hold your breath. With the amount of rain that we have had I would think watever fish were going to show up have, and more, likely won't. Chum returns are down in many areas this year and I think coho as well with the exception of maybe the Puntledge, Stamp/Somass, and Cowichan rivers. I have caught chrome silver coho in the Nanaimo r. in January while steelheading and the Cowichan in December, so late running fish may still be out there in small numbers. Good Luck Chalupa
