Anyone been out lately?

I will be out there Fri, Sat, and Sun. I hope to complete the circuit from the Nook –Pill – Swale – Kirby – The Wall – and back.

Hopefully we find them, If not there is always prawns. :D

I will have a report up Sunday night.

Cheers BT,

One of my guide friends was out last weekend and they caught full limits inside as nothing is showing yet offshore. The fish were mostly in the 12-15 lbs and, witht he prawns and crab, made for full coolers.

Good luck in your trip.

I wish I had a better report …. We didn’t see a lot of action this weekend.

Pill on Friday night, with a few other boats, no fish, and didn’t see any come in.
Swale on Saturday afternoon, by ourselves, 1 undersized ling.
Whistle Buoy on Saturday night, by ourselves, 2 undersized lings.
The Wall on Sunday morning, with a few other boats, no fish, and didn’t see any come in.

On Saturday we did see 2 springs come into Poett Nook in the afternoon, caught at The Wall within 15 minutes of each other at the tide change. Also heard on the radio of a 28 lber Saturday night but didn’t get the location. On Sunday heard of a 7 lber at Salmon Beach. Pretty slow.

We did however see lots of crab and prawns. Good thing for crab and prawns :D

Will be back next weekend and hope to have a much better report.

BT

Was out in the inlet this past friday out by pill point, and swale only managed one keeper ling made for good fish and chips.

Saw 6 commercial prawners working all over the inlet, threw down 3 traps but managed to lose one bringing it up somehow (we think something got twisted up down there) and that's how it broke off, but we managed a honest amount and 4 keeper dungeness that were decent size alot of small ones that were tossed back using chicken carcass.

Wish we got out before the commercials got in there as i'm sure our prawn take would've been doubled.

Didn't try for any springs, but after fueling up at the bamfield docks we did see 2 boats out there trying their luck as we were heading out to drag our gear up.

It was a very nice day out there and early morning was glass like conditions but on the way back around 3-4 PM the water got pretty nasty on the way back.

Had a good weekend at Barkley.

We picked up 11 springs, biggest was 15lbs. We also got 2 small hali while trolling, biggest was low 20's. Nice little bonus :D

We caught everything at the Whistle Buoy, along the bottom with needlefish hootchies.

Also picked up 500 prawns to finish things off.

Here is a pic from this mornings catch. The 4 are all hatchery, and 8 of 11 were hatchery.

Next weekend should be even better.

Hey Business Time,

We caught some nice Springs too and Hali in the same area. They were stuffed with needle fish as well. Biggest was a 20.

Mostly hathery as well. I am sending in the heads, so will be interesting to see where they're from.
