Any sockeye showing at Browns Bay yet???? With a 50% diversion rate down through the inside we should have a good number coming through soon.

It's a little early yet to see sockeye in any numbers around CR.It usually begins in earnest around the 15th & can go strong until the end of the month. The numbers in the PSC test fisheries are encouraging & hopefully will continue to ramp up this week. There have been big schools pushing by Port Hardy this week so they are definitely on their way. Commercial boys are hammering north of the narrows this week but from what I've heard are only doing so-so. Fingers crossed, third week of August should be lights out from Deepwater bay to Chatham Pt. 8-)

Made the trip to Browns Bay today. Reports at the dock were not that good but we took someone's advise and headed up to Rock Bay. Did not get the gear in the water until 3pm but we hit the bite immediately. Limit of 8 nice sox in 15 minutes. Back to the dock shortly after 4pm and on the road home by 5.

Made the trip back to Browns Bay yesterday and it looks like the main run of sox is started. Lots of rec and commercial boats operating from Browns Bay all the way up to Chatham Point. We fished Rock Bay again at 2 pm and had our limit of nice 8 pounders in no time. Other boats around us were not doing as well so our set-up was probably the difference. Two dummy flashers 5' apart on each downrigger followed by two rods with hoochies. 20" leaders. Googley Eyes and pink hoochies working for us. You knew all the rods were going off whenever you marked a school on the sounder.

atta boy hotrods, keep up the good reports.

My sources also have leaked a few reports of sox being caught around gabriola as bicatch so they're starting to stack up :D

Hotrods i say we get bobby and few boats together to fish sandheads in the next few weeks. Without any rain that adams river run will be piling up into mid september if my memory serves me right.

Talking to the commercial guys at the docks and one boat had 180 hooks out and in 15 minutes had a fish on everyhook and only 3 were pinks

yo, I have been making the run from nanaimo over to sandheads area, last 2 days. one hr 10 mins from brechin at 28 knots.

got there 4pm, fish on right away, got limit of 6-9lbers in 2 hrs, lost 11

today got there noon, no bite till 1;15 , then bang, limited again in 2 hrs and lost 12 same size range,

at least 60 boats around the heads and t10 , not all getting fish from radio stories, but sounder had large schools on screen.

Heading back tommorow ...
