Last year the river was full of salmon in August. All the reports were saying you catch you limit in the first 15mins with anything pink with a hook on it thrown in the water . I was all excited to go when my car died last year and I couldn't drive up from Victoria. This year I have to go to North Carolina in August for work so I get the big suck again.

Thinking of trying the \campbell in the next few days. Looking for some advice. I will be fly fishing, do people recommend sink tip or dry line with a long leader and weighted fly? Taking my dad for his first trip and hope to get him into fish. Thanks.

Onthefly, I use a floating line with either an intermediate or fast sink tip. Use a bead head fly, you need to get down to the fish and they are just above the rocks laying on the bottom. Let your line do a full swing then short retrieves. Don't be afraid to try a purple handlebar as a change from pink.

Tried it out today. Lots of fish moving in. Decided on a full sink and a weighted fly as the water is on the fast side. Landed one and broke my rod on it. Good thinkg it has a lifetime warranty.

How long does the run usually last? The earliest I can get up there is 26-Aug.

The run seems to be later than last year so, I think it will still be happening. Call The RiverSportsman before you come up and double check.
