Has anyone here ever caught salmon casting from Otter Point?
I see mega boats trolling out there on any given day this time of year, and I dang wished I could be out there on a boat but unforunately ,I ain't.
I Had a good hit today on my 2.5 oz spinnow but was quikly lost.
I believe someone said they catch coho withing the kelp bed at times.
Anyone have success?
Opps,this should be in saltwater

Yes years ago we used to spin cast there,my uncle hooked a large spring that promptly spooled him.And we have caught a few coho over the years. Our largest spin casting was an 18 lb spring.Dan

Yeah, I've always wanted to try Otter Point. I think that's your best bet. I've tried Beachy Head and number of times with out any success. But I've heard of some decent fish caught at Otter. Let us know how it goes.

My brother was out there last year at 11pm on a full moon when he hooked and landed a 35lber-kept him in the top five of the Island Outfitters leaderboard for a month.
Keep at it and I'm sure you will have success

Same as me. Are there any good places to cast from shore in Nanaimo?

I've never shore fished Nanaimo - but I'm sure there must be somewhere to fish when the pinks come through? Gerry any info?

Yes, Otter Point is out in Sooke. It's probably a 45 minute drive from Victoria. Head north west out of the Sooke Basin by water.

I have caught coho casting from Otter Point, and every year you hear of a few fish caught over 25 pounds there.

At the time, it seemed a bit slow to me, only caught 2 coho in maybe 10 hours of casting, so I invested thousands of dollars in boats...only to discover 2 fish in 10 hours isn't that bad on lots of days out there.

Good luck!
