Hey new to the site, haven't read many posts from the comox valley. I have been getting springs in lambert channel at the 180 to 200 foot range. I use a lure called a B2B it looks like a squid about 3-4 inches long with a green flasher. Two where caught on a purple haze and the other on a white one.
Have friends that have been fishing kitty coleman and have done well but mostly jacks. Talked to another guy who was fishing the cove on cape lazo from the bell boy to the cardinal and he said he picked up a 26lbs spring last weekend on a anchovy.
Have a client who fished the hump near Campbell River and picked up a 68lbs halibut. I have been fishing for lings, but everything has been undersize.
Oh and off flora they have been catching springs near the rock piles on green and white spoons (I have mangled to much gear to fish there)
My boat is a grey and white arima sea chaser 17' with a red Bimini. My name is Brendan.

Hi Seachaser, when you refer to the "rock piles" off Flora, which way and how far from Flora are you talking? I`ve lost my share of gear near Flora on the South side, but would like to know where these rock piles that you mentioned are. Thanks, Lure-washer

Welcome to the site. Not to many posts about Comox fishing as it has been very spotty this year. Last year we were doing real well around here. You probably already know but here is what Lambert channel regs are for June 15.
Those waters of Lambert channel bounded from a marker off Nile Creek, north along Vancouver shoreline to Mapleguard Point, thence along the Harbour limit boundary to southern point of Chrome Island, then to southern tip of Denman Island, thence north along shore to Whalebone Point, thence to Shingle Spit on Hornby Island, thence along the shore to Norman Point, thence south from Norman Point 2.4Nm to a position (49 28.25’ N and 124 36.54’ W), and back to Nile Creek marker, there is a non-retention of chinook, June 15 to August 15.
Looks like you will need to start releasing them in 2 weeks or find a new spot.

thanks for the info about lamburt didn't know that, now that it is june i will be heading to the west coast as much as possible or up to campbell river. The rock piles i'm talking about is just when i'm fishing near the bottom out there and hit a ledge. If you look at the west side of flora you will see a bunch of contour line stacked on each other and that is where i lost my gear. others fish the east side.

Seachaser, I`m sorry to hear about you donating to the warehouse of tackle along Flora, but I feel some comfort in knowing I`m not alone. Sounds like the same place I have donated to. Besides that I have never caught a fish along there, but the other side can be very good. Lure-washer

Nice to hear of another 17 Seachaser out there, mine is red/white with a grey top.
Another closure to take note of is inside of a line from the Bell Buoy to Cape Lazo.
Subarea 14-11: Baynes Sound, inside of a line commencing at Cape Lazo light, thence to the P-54 Bell Buoy on Comox Bar, then to Longbeak Point at the extreme north end of Denman Island, then to the mouth of Hart (Washer) Creek on Vancouver Island, there is a non-retention of chinook, May 1 to August 31.
May and June were both good months last year, biggest problem is this weather !!!

Ya I was reading the closures today, I'm going to catch the morning slack tomorrow at 6 ish. Haven't decided where to go yet I'm thinking of Lamburt again or kitty coleman hump. Talked to a guy and he caught a 22lb spring off the cardinal on cape lazo. He was using anchovies.

Been a couple weeks but here is my report of the last couple weeks. . .
kitty coleman hump has still been productive fishing between the 130 to 200 range people are catching springs on anchovies, white hoochies, army truck colours, and green and white 4" spoons (standard spring fishing gear).
between the two cardinal bouys on the outside (east) at around 200 feet we have been getting the odd spring still. On a brighter note we are catching blue backs like crazy at around 15 to 30 feet. You can't keep the Coho because they have the extra fin and they are undersize.
Thats about it see ya on the water.
