Here's a question. I want to wire a few chovy heads, but the only decent sized wire I have is copper. Anyone ever used copper instead of stainless? I am thinking there could be some negative electrolysis effects.

Thoughts? :?:

Stainless produces "electrolysis" too.....which is why alot of commercial guys won't use a stainless hook on spoons like the true 50/50 brass/chrome Wonder.

Copper pipe jigs catch Ling Cod.

Some guys who use braid downrigger line put a Copper fin on their lead downrigger balls to get a small attractor charge going when fishing for salmon.

Give it a try......I think it will work as good as stainless. If not.....it didn't hurt you to find out.

For awhile, before Hotspots were invented, U.S. commercials were using solid brass flashers.

Back a few pre-war decades, the commercials were using all sorts of metal in their gear and attractors and line.
And they still caught tons of fish.

Big brass spinners were the order of the day for estuary Chinooks at one time for rowing. And they probably coupled these to stainless or iron hooks and nickel swivels. You could have probably powered a flashlight from the voltage off these rigs. But they still caught many a big fish.

You never know....the copper wire might work BETTER than stainless.
Ever see a commercial "Superior" spoon? One of the hottest lures for salmon ever made. Check out the bare metals involved in these spoons......
