Hey everyone,

So I could use some education.

I was asking about how to fish trout with tackle because I was told that the fly rod I have for the lake isn't suitable for the river. I'm not entirely sure that the person knew what he was talking about now.

Can anyone confirm this? I believe it's a 6 foot 6, number 8 flyrod. Given to me by my dad. Looks like a walmart special.

I'd rather bring the fly rod to practise on the river this weekend if I can.

its just more rod then you need for lake fishing around here, but hey if its all you got then its better then sitting at home.

I have heard of that size in 0-2wt for bluelines. Have fun casting...

In regards to your cow questions.... A 6'6" would be difficult to effectively use and is quite over powered for your quarry....

If my sage wasn't broken (again) I would have a 6wt 9' to throw at ya.
Keep an eye on used vic.... some killer deals float through there also Walmart is good to look at if you know what you are looking for. My most favorite 4wt is a freaking Angler that I grabbed from Walmart for 40 bux

That's quite a bit different

That will be a more forgiving for learning with as the wind wont mess with you as much. While river fishing the roll cast is utilized quite a bit and the smaller rods make that a little more difficult.
