With the weather turning, and the easy chair getting more of a work out, what fishing show grabs your attention and which one doesn't.

To start, it's hard to beat the longevity of Gary (Gary Coopers Fishing Diary, Nice Fish). I've still got VCR tapes full of his episodes from the 80's & 90s.

On the flip side, the Dimestore Fishermen seems to go against the legitimate efforts and progression of true outdoor television hosts/producers over the years. Seems like a fraud.

Look forward to other member's perspectives!

Favotires:
Nice Fish... Of course
Hookin' up with Mariko Izumi... for the comical aspect of fishing/partying
Big City Fishing

I caught the Bob Izumi's Real Fishing Show recently and he was preparing for a tournament and filmed the prefishing and during and it was informative... And like a good little monkey I went and bought a bunch of stuff the next day hehe.

I tend to like shows that give instruction and technical aspects more than most of the flyfishing shows that are just "Oh look I cast and caught a fish"

I'd like to see more shore casting shows since I don't have a boat. :) yet...

I've never seen it on TV, but on youtube I like to watch "Chew on this"

I can't really say I don't like any fishing show because I haven't seen enough of them yet... and when I'm not watching them I'm fishing or at work.

count me an addict.

the west coast shows are ok but I'm really sick of watching the hosts just reel in fish at the lodges. Call me old fashioned but I'd prefer the host to actually pick the spot, rig the tackle, run the boat and catch the fish.

Not just sit there like any charter boat guest and reel in the fish once the guide has hooked them.

I get how it works, the lodge offers up everything for free and in return they get a 30 minute commercial, I just don't find myself watching much anymore.

Least favorite Going Fishing. The host never knows where he is as he is always asking the guide "what's the name of this lake again". I agree we should have better west coast shows actually showing how to catch salmon not plugging lodges.

I love Gary Cooper and all the local vid's are really cool. His filming is so amateur that it was reality tv before the term was invented :D . That is what I like about his shows 8-) .

My favourite for entertainment factor has to go to Tred Barta  :D . Love him or hate him he is entertaining for sure!
