We are having our derby weekend at the right time for big fish. Unfortunately we dont have as many entries as we would like and only have about 20 boats fishing for the $10,000 prize. Fishing out here is completely nuts right now. If you wanted to fish all day you could easily hook 40-80 Chinook 20-40 lbs. Most of the fish are around the 20-25 mark. It has been a long time since you could troll plugs and see your rod pop every few minutes! Right now the weather is amazing and we are having absolute glory time fishing. It is an easy 25 knot an hour run. You can use any plug style you want to catch fish, the fishing is that good! Most of the fish are up on the Starfish, though there are a few on South West corner too. Our season is almost done and the best have arrived!

The Starfish - Hyson bank is 12 miles due south of Tofino and it really is smoking hot :o

No problemo, Lure Washer. It was a lot more precarious today with an uncomfortable SE 15 - 20 kn fog wind. I heard there were many near collisions in the fog with crowded conditions and lots of boats without radar :?:

I went with the wind along the same contour line for about 4.5 miles, grading thru the mediums to get a 5 person stack and then grabbed our halis near where we ended

Just came back from 3 days in Ukee.Fishing was amazing; thanks to Capt. Steve and Capt Kent for the great time and the huge load of fish. Was too bad I got no reply's to any of the emails I sent on this site. guess they were all too buisy to reply :( . Had a chance to limit everyday. Fished outer lighthouse bank wednesday and then worked thursday on outer south bank was a zoo for boats and fish !
Fish anywhere from 35' to 175' on blue silver spoons party girl and the ultimate jumbo squid which was nailing all the fatties. :D

Got to make my first ever trip to ucluelet to fish on Friday.
My boss took me out on his 23.5' Grady White.
We fished Starfish from 7:30-11:00am. I have never caught so many fish that quickly before.

We were into our first within ten minutes, a beautiful 23lber. Averaged a fish to the boat every 20min. The best part was watching a coho nail the spoon while still on the surface!

Topped the day off with a 28ish pounder. With the swells and a fish that wouldn't stay still, we took the closest reading.

Got our limit with a 23, 25.5, 28,and a 10lber that surely would've died if we'd let it go.

Better get out there before the fishing is done!

Cheers,

Leischvost
