Just shorten up your leader length. With hootchies I rarely go longer than 36" and usually 30" or shorter. I use a bead chain connector and have done well. gl

All the talk is about swivels and loops, what consideration do you take when chosing the leader strength. If you are using say 20 -25 lb. test mainline, try using 40 - 50 lb leader, this too helps put the action where it belongs, at the hoochie.

I never use any lighter than 40 lb. test leader for hootchies. In the past I have always used swivels and anywhere from 34" to 44" leaders depending on where i was fishing and the time of year (for chinook that is). As I mentioned in an earlier post i am always looking to try something new.
