yep, lure washer, REELFAST is moored for the fishing season and then stored for the remaining months. at the marina i simply tilt the engines and hook up the hose to the fitting and flush away. every couple of rinses, i'll hook up the saltaway gizmo and add that as well.

For in water: Thats why Yamaha has a flush connector on the block but, you are not supposed to run the engine when using that port. Evinrude and some Mercs have a quick connect on the back of the block for in water flushing.
I like the sprinkler under the rig idea, good one.

You have to buy the flush system. Its a little bottle that you fill up with the solution and then screw it inline bewteen the hose and the ear muffs. There is a selction valve that allows you to flush with water, and then just before you are finished, you open the valve and allow the salt away to be drwan into the motor along with the flushing water. let is run for about a minute and the flushing water will draw all the salt away solution into the motor. Then you shut it off.Apparently the salt away gets rid of the salt and leaves a thin film of this stuff inside your engine. Previous boat owner swore by it. I have cointinued using it and I have yet to have any salt issues (or any issues) on a 10 year old Evinrude 200 ficht. So far so good .

I use the ear muffs, turn the hose on full and run the engine until the water being puked out is clear it takes about 14 minutes ,take a clear glass, or an cleaned out jam jar, hold it under the discharge and fill it up, the water should be clear just like comin out of your garden hose, I even go as far as to dip a finger in and taste it, no salt, jobs done.
what the hell, we have all eaten worse anyway.

Your manual will tell you to NOT turn the water on FULL. Fuks up the impeller.
Use just enough pressure to energize the overflow ports on the b/e. That way the impeller works in zero gravity as designed.

I rarely flushed mine as all the parts that have saltwater in them are designed to have saltwater in them. I would use the boat at least once a week on average and only flush if the motor was not in use for more than a week (3-4x a year). I got 10 years out of the motor before a rod bearing went and wrecked the block. The only thing I would do different is spend a little more time washing around the steering as that's easy to do and that part of the motor was looking a little suspect by the time she died..

Every time I pull it out of salt water. A very easy thing to do that will extend the life of a motor
