How often do you fishermen flush your outboard cooling systems?
Do you flush to prevent corrosion or possidle plugging or both?

Everytime it's been in the saltwater. I live close to two lakes so I wheel by there on the way home and back in deep enough to submerge my brakes and run the two motors for a while.

Every time it comes out of the salt. I have a hose (and muffs) in the back of the truck. Salt can go to work as soon as it dries.

Cheers,

Everytime it has been in salt water it is flushed as soon as possible after being brought home. No exceptions. After every charter the boat gets looked after
before the Captain.

Flush after every use regardless for at least 10 minutes and then use "salt away" at the end of every flush. So far so good.

The outboards get flushed out every time they go in the salt chuck.

my yamaha's have a hose connect for a garden hose. every time i finish for the day, i flush with clear water for at least 10 minutes/engine. i used the muffs a while back and cooked both water pumps. the certified yamaha shop told me muffs are great for business. apparently the long shafts don't do too well with this method. use the hose connect on your engine(s), works.

I flush mine every time it's been in any water. Muddy water has mud in it so I want to keep the engine clean. Pop the propeller and check for fishing line and weeds, then flush for 10mins. It's a nice routine.

If I ever put my boat in salt, I'll also set up the garden sprinkler under the boat for an hour or so to clean off the boat and trailer as well. I got a carwash brush that holds soap that I run over the boat too. Quick and easy and keeps everything clean.

I may be wrong, but, I don`t think that we have heard from the folks that keep their boats in the water. How about it you moorers?
