Made a few phone calls today before my blood boils. The fellow at the Society said they were not involved and never do that sort of thing. He gave me a name and number to call. I spoke with a fisheries biologist at the Min. of Inviro. responsible for the dirty deed. He said the lake was due for its anual 5 to 6 year assesment of fish stock size, age, species, ect. This info determines whether or not the lake needs stocking. The gill net is standard procedure method so they get consistent results to evaluate. Only if the lake needs stocking does the Society get involved. Lets hope they stock it up good after this.

Spoken like a typical guy who really has no idea what he's talking about or how things are done.

Some people make me wonder? The only reason there are any fish to catch in the local lakes is because of the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC. They have to be able to gather information in order to make decisions, and if they have to take a few dozen fish in order to do this then, big deal.

I know they took fish and do not plan on putting any back, what is wrong with a sain net spose that takes time and a lil more effort.. Fish they stalk in lakes I don't fish and about 95% the people I know don't either, why would they take a few dozen when they only need around 20 fish, sounds like over kill ...Who cares you say sounds like you don't fish the lake and don't have a clew either, better stand guard at you're net the next time

Don't know about the rest of the country, but here in B.C. .52 CENTS of every dollar we spend on freshwater license fees goes to the Freshwater Society for stocking our lakes and rivers. Thats a good thing for us all.

I just took a look at the stocking report for Horne lake and it says they put in just over 15,000 cutthroats in 2006, so there you go Jwolfe. Take a look at the website you might learn something.
