I was wondering if anyone could let me know where to fish for halibut near Sooke? What current table to use? The currents for Race rocks seems to be quite different. I only have a 14 foot boat, so I don't like the idea of going to Sheringham. It seems a little far if a storm comes up.

right out front off the sooke bluffs or you could launch off the beach in Jordan river and head out to 150-250' of water and be in primo halibut water but you gotta make sure there is no swell or else you'll be surfing in.
Use JDF east for the current table, you just might have to adjust the times if you head west(JR).

Could try William head/Perry bay/Albert head...... Well suited for a smaller boat

Thank you folks. I am tired of towing the boat a half hour to Pedder bay. I'd rather spend 10 minutes towing and then launch. Where abouts at the bluffs? Any specific depth or just anywhere? Anchor or drift? When I go to Race rocks area I usually anchor in about 165 feet.

I've never halibut fished sooke bluffs so I can't give you any real advice but anywhere from 150-250 is always a good place to start. Good luck!
