hmm time to take a look in the saanich inlet in a week or two I think. Last year there was tons of herring in every bay, first time in years I've seen any herring return to the inlet down here.

Kelly I didn't quite understand what you were saying about the rigs? Are you saying you fish with a 15' long rig?

sorry Kelly my bad, it was FishAssasin that posted this:

Quote:
You can retie herring jigs that you buy at the sporting good shops with 15-20 leader. That makes it easier to shake them off your line into buckets without unhooking them by hand.

15-20' of herring jigs sounds like a nightmare to me?

Not foot, Pound. 15-20 pound leader and 12 hooks. I have a friend that tied me some jigs this year and I stringed my own. Just have to get out now that I got my boat back from Wolf Boats.

Any one know how to find out the results of this mornings test fishery in Baynes Sound?

They have to be unloading these fish some where. I bet one could buy a couple buckets for bait.

We got out yesterday. Caught a cooler full in an hour-right in front of French Creek (towards Parksville) in 15 feet of water.

Cheers All,

If anyone is heading out in the French Creek area herring fishing and has room for an extra body I would be thrilled to pay my way. I am right out of herring for this year and need about a cooler for my needs.

Let me know.

I can offer you a spot leaving from Union Bay. Could fish Baynes Sound, Chrome Island and Norris Rocks. We could go right now. Well it would be Baynes Sound only today do to wind. I am watching Wednesdays weather right now. If it works out I will be lauching in Deep Bay.
