Already started. There are a number of balls in Baynes Sound sound that I have seen. There was a ball next to the Denman ferry at 2330 two nights ago. Wish a had a couple of jigs. Seen them off of Chrome Island all the way to Leaquiti Island. Lots of small ones though. Some though up to 6-7 inches. They were rolling next to my boat.

Going to have to get a few next time I am out. When the wind dies.

Your best bet is to go to French Creek Marina a dn talk to Bill. He will let you know what the favourites are in the area.

If this is salmon fishing we are talking about now just look at that topic in saltwater and ask the question. Many of people that are fishing that area are willing answer your question. What works on the ECVI works on almost any area of the ECVI.

Cheers fishinassassin,

If during your course of travels during this herring season, you come across 5 or 10 gallons of herring - either full or processed, I am looking for a good price on such. Let me know. Using for both halibut as well as grinding for prawn traps.

I tried to get to French Creek last year but all of them were gone in 4 hours after being landed. Guy has to be quick!

I can ask. In fact I have a fisherman of herring in the guest bedroom sleeping right now :D Due to the drink, I would say but who knows. I will ask if I remember in the morning :D I want bait as well.

I will ask about halibut at the same time as my freezer is empty of that goodness.

My bed is open to him for Herring season as well as Hali.. :D

Cheers fishassassin,

Thanks for clarrifying that point! I will sleep much better now! :D

If he has a bit more than 10 gallons I could probably find a use for it. And we must remember the special oil when your other friend returns. I am thinking you have way more friends than I do! LOL

Thanks again...

Hey reggie i think i talked to you a few times this summer. I had the malibu tyee down the finger a bit and saw you fishing off FC a few times. Bigredsnapper (Greg) has the red hulled sangster near the breakwater and has hit a few fish the last week.

I forgot what he got them on but you can never go wrong with splatter back hootchies or green/clear(i think they are called lime) squirts in this area. These where my go to lures for most of the year and ushually have at least one down. Purple haze, tiger prawn, white hootchies and green/white,cop car coyote spoons are always other good options. I fish the hootchies/squirts on 36-42 inch 40lb leaders and the spoons on 4-5ft leaders.around 2 knots normally.I catch 90% of my fish within 5-15 feet of bottom anywhere from 100-250 feet of water. All around gerald except the shallow reef between it and amelia (tricky to troll), The waterfront off french creek all the way to qualicum down deep, off the lighthouse of ballenas and north end sangster island near lasqueti are my go to spots. Right on the bottom is the best except when bait is suspended like it is sometimes at sangster.
