Tried to go out Sunday early for crab/prawn/Spring but ice caused rig to slide sideways into box hedge off edge of sloped driveway. Being stubborn (and sometimes dumb like post) I tried to force my way around to get out. Result - bent tongue (rotten?) on trailer. two hours later, we managed to winch and hand bomb about 5000# back under the shelter. Now I have to get it apart and replace the entire tongue. In my next life I want to be born wealthy so I can just buy new trailer, LoL.

ah that really sucks, nothing worse then a mishap on the way out fishing. I've done a tongue before, its really not much work once you get the bolts off/cut. sh*tty all the same though

Yeah, I'll cut it/unbolt it first day I am home. I'll also cut away the shelter we worked so hard to get it back under as the snow load last night did a number on it. Time for a plan B methinks. Gotta laugh, keep piling it on...lol. How's that old song go.."if it weren't for bad luck, we'd have no luck at all" Or as my pappy said "keep smiling, things could be worse" He was right, we keep smiling and things keep getting worse.LMAO

Cheers,
Well...the good part you were home and not far to get the boat away. I toasted a tongue in French Creek and had to run the boat back to Nanaimo while I had a friend pick up the trailer. It was a two day ordeal just to get everything home. The fixing the trailer is easy.
A brief thank you that it did not occur at 110 kph on the Island Highway and end up with the unit and boat sliding across the road into oncoming vehicles. Not a pleasant thought. You dodged a bullet!
If the tongue failed DON'T mess with trying to fix it - put a new tongue in as the piece of mind in knowing the trailer will stay behind the truck is 'priceless'!
