Just moved to Nanaimo. I am a disabled senior (Limited mobility) I would like to do local bank fishing and would appreciate tips on location,bait and method etc.

The Colliery Dams would be a great place, as would Westwood Lake. I believe there is also a wheelchair accessible dock at Diver Lake.

All these lakes are stocked regularily. Fish with worms or powerbait on the bottom or under a float, for lures any small spinners such as panther martins, and for flies you can never go wrong with leeches and wooly buggers.

I think you could fish the docks at Long lake as well as Divers. By far I find the most effective way to fish the lakes here from shore is powerbait on the bottom. Use an egg weight above a swivel and use 4-6# test for a leader anywhere from 2-3ft long. Use a #8 hook and make sure the powerbait covers it completely (the bait must float the hook to catch alot of fish) . Works all year long in all our lakes on the Island. I find orange without sparkles works the best.
