langford lake is loaded with trout and bass,i use the same basic setup for both.a slip float set at about 15 -18 feet deep so it is close to the bottom but out of the weeds and in the water column.i use a 3 inch artificial worm in conjunction with half a live worm for scent and vibration.i also add scent. Also,i sometimes fish powerbait off the bottom with a 3-4 foot leader, this is very popular and easy.if you have a small boat you can troll for bigger rainbows with whatever you desire, worm tipping works well.I like to fly fish out of my bellyboat on nice days.I fish Langford lk.2-3 times a week for it is where i run my dog,so i often don't use a boat and you don't need one to catch fish there.i almost never get skunked.I have pulled many 2-3 lb rainbows out of Langford as well as a 5.5 lb smallmouth bass a couple weeks ago. i do not often target bass but do catch them incidentaly when after trout.the biggest rainbow i have gotten there is a little over 4 lbs, however i have seen a few over 5 lbs at the fishing dock.Ss out..........

Thanks for having a post for Langford lake! I'm totally new to fishing and langford is my main fishing hole.
When I started late June I found the standard setup of a slip weight and a 3-6ft leader and 2 chartreuse and 1 pink worked well. But I've been skunked since I got my boat.
Probably because I'm trying to fish from the boat the way I fished from shore.
Any tips you can give?

hi there, there is nothing wrong with your boat.end of june is a good time for fishing but it drops off when the water temp gets up the fishing slows down.drop a thermometer to find the thermocline in the lake and fish the cold water.it is all about the water temp.switch to fly fishing in summer for trout feeding patterns change with the different bug hatches..i fish salmon in summer and not so much in the lakes for trout..Bass ,now they love warm water.you will have much better luck targeting smallmouths in the hot weather for they get more active with warm water.Fish for bass around structures and boat docks for they like to hide.salmonslayer out.......

Was at Langford fishing dock tonight and got a few bites one after the other just after 6:30pm using 3 Chartreuse and power lotion. Then nothing for the rest of the night. One of the other people on the dock pulled in a little one with 2 pinks and pink lotion just after 8:30pm.
Saw quite a few jumps out in front of the fishing dock most of the night but that's about all.

early morning is better but i have picked up trout there in the evening often.slow now cause of water temp.if you get out in a boat you can target those jumping fish witha dry fly.there is nothing better than catching rising rainbows on dry fly.next time i go to langford lake i am going to use my bellyboat and flyfish for them and get out in deeper water.bass is really on right now if you can get at them with a boat .Ss out

I got out in my boat again and was along the shore near the fish dock and over by the island directly in front of the fish dock and was getting bites where I feel the fish trash around but think I'm doing something wrong to set the hook. I've been using a rubber worm thing with the tail the spins. Are the fish just getting the tail thing or am I just not setting the hook correctly? Is there a different method to set a hook with bass compared to trout?
