Saw a trout truck the other day... guess its getting to that time of the year.

Also heard reports of big steelhead being caught out of Fuller Lake.

Apparently this isn't the first time people have caught them out of Fuller.

This is a post for anyone to add with regards to mid-island lake fishing.

I hope to hear lots of good fishing.

My first trip was to Westwood in Nanaimo. We did manage a few fish on our secret lure!!!

Cheers,

Is it too early? I haven't seen a reply yet to this thread.

I was hoping to get out today but things got in the way.

Has anyone been catching these 5-8lb steelhead from Fuller? I heard that there are a lot there.

Any posts would be appreciated.

I was just checking stocking info on GoFishBC. Earlier this year steelhead (summer run) or large bows from Fraser river stock were stocked in Fuller. About 175 fish from 470 gms. to 2380 gms were released so I guess some of them are being caught. These are diploid stock so should reproduce so catch and release. Let us know if you catch one. GL.

I caught a few a month or so ago. We could see them swimming by the shore and cast power bait out in the path that we kept seeing them swim by. It was really cool to see them swim up to your bait and smash it. All the fish we caught were 4-5lbs but were really colored up.

My brother was at Chemainus lake a week or so ago and said that a bunch of people were catching the same fish there. He also noted that they were coloured up... but lots hitting on wooly buggers and such. He said that these fish were only a few feet deep and definately looked like spawning steelies.

Wasn't there to confirm but he has caught many steelies in his young days and I take his word for it.

Wish I could get out there.

That sounds like what the report was. Were they trout or steelhead that were put in there?
