Wondering if anyone has the name of a good outboard mechanic. Ii used a fellow down in extension area but can't find his info and he didnt like woring on motors older than 90. Mine are both from the 70's and both need work. 9.8 merc ; think its a carb problem and a 70 hp evinrude. Losing power and something onit is affecting fish finders. have tried to use 2 differnrt ones and neither will work when main is running . (coil)? Please pm me with names and numbers. thanks in advance.

Cheers Dave,

Not sure if the fellow you used was Rob Bilton as he is in the Extension area but he is a good mechanic - a factory trained Yamaha mechanic who, after leaving Parker Marine, set up his own business. I use his services: 250-616-6829

Or, if you have older equipment, you could try Roy at Ye Olde Merc Shop: 250-754-5078 as he specializes in older motors. He is quite the 'character' but he sure knows his engines and has quite the selection of used parts.

There's a guy named Tom, who lives out by Nanaimo River, who's supposed to be good with older engines. His # is 753 3974. Might be worth a try.
