Im looking for information on the backroads to Klaskino Inlet. I know there is a road via Mahatta River, but also heard there may be a new more direct route from Port Alice due to East Creek logging. Has anyone been up there in recent years? Aslo interested in any fishing info on Klaskish, Klaskino and Mahatta Rivers. Or anywhere else I should be checking out in that area.
cheers

hey courage do you have a backroads map book? I find they are pretty spot on with access points, gated roads etc. If you don't have one you can get them at almost every tackle store and I think I've seen them at canadian tire as well?

When are you thinking of going, I would think sept./oct. could be very interesting, salmon and summer run steelies I'd bet.

yes I definately use the backroad mapbook. Usually they are very accurate. The logging is still very active out there and I have heard rumors of some new roads but have no confirmation. I don't think they have updated info on that particular area. Coho and summers would be very intersting in sept/oct out there. But I am heading out in a few weeks. So maybe some summers if I can find some canyons or deeper water. Should be pretty low levels out there at the moment. This is more exploring and hopefully find some water I just have to hit late summer/early fall.
cheers

There was a new/old road (Cayuse Main), but a slide has closed to all but 4x4 traffic. Plus you never know when the gate will be open.

Best bet is the old way through Mahatta. Just be aware that they have logged the crap out of the second growth, so some old road junctions will not look the same.

Best bet is to stop in at the WFP McNeill office and get the latest up date on roads, hauling ect. and also contact IFP in CR as that are also out there working.

If you need any more info, let me know.

Cheers

Thanks I do have a few more questions so I can maximize my time out there. Apparently there is a boat launch at the head of klaskino inlet. We have a small aluminum on a trailer. Has anyone seen the condition of that particular launch site? As well as Mahatta lake? Also, has anyone hiked/4x4 ed what looks to be an old road down Klaskish River? Can I get to that old road from klaskino? I only have a few days out there after travel so the more I know the better. Thanks
