If anyone had any doubts about the determination of the gov't to muzzle their own scientists, they should read the following article. Disgusting.

This is truly disgusting, disheartening and proves the level of deception and corruption in the DFO and with our greasy politicians. If the Cohen Inquiry doesn't bring some changes that it is clearly up to the people that care :!:

Sadly, the only way government will make any attempt to rule for the benefit of the people is when they are forced to do so. It is time to become radical, and hold their feet to the fire, and continue the pressure non-stop, until they realize that we are not going to go quietly into the night. By our apathy in the past we have sent the message that they can do what they want without fear of repercussion. They need to learn that the free ride is over, and ungodly alliances with a few mega businesses will no longer be tolerated. Ultimately, we have the power to do so, if we work together and refuse to accept less than fair treatment as citizens.

And how exactly do we hold their feet over the fire and show how we are upset? We can't actually do anything of any import. Stop fishing? Stop buying fish? Write a letter? please.

Canada is not a democracy, it's a sham. I'll pay my taxes and bend over for a dry rape again, just like everyone else.

I am tired of BOHICA, so write MLA's, MP's, papers - it costs nothing but paper and envelope. Do it over and over. Make an appointment with MP, then express your anger and frustration. get a group and after notifying media, picket the same offices. When that fails to be enough to force action, then we have to at least consider massive civil disobedience. This may take the form of a mass fishing effort - well publicized, of course. There are options, we simply have been too complacent and far too trusting to date. When enough of us have decided that the situation is intolerable, we will take collective action. The Canadian people generally, and fishermen in particular, are growing tired of the lies and gov't attempts to ignore us. We are like the sleeping giant, awakened at their peril.
