My son is coming out from Winnipeg on Sunday for a couple of days and wants me to take him out around Nanaimo one day and French Creek the next. There seems to very few reports of fish being caught. Any suggestions where one should take him .

Theres fish to catch out there right now. Thrasher would be your best bet but if you dont want to go that far try the fingers. Try a UV flasher and a 4-5" black/glow ("nightrider" worked a few times last year ;) ) or green/glow spoon, pretty much any green glow or UV hootchie works well out here too. Try fishing 120-160ft this time of year. If your fishing French creek try Gerald, bellenas isl, or str8 out in front of the boat launch in the middle of the straight.

Was out on Sat. The wind kept chasing us around. Started off the Fingers then tried hiding behind Gabriola/Entrance. Marked bait and fish all over. Only small lings and rockers. S/b soon though. Lots of Herring spawn on the beaches.

Cheers All,

Been picking up a few salmon on each of the last few trips. Nothing spectacular but I anticipate any day that we should get something special occuring again off Nanaimo.

I am on a charter on Wed and will post results.

Cheers All,

Had a charter today and it was anything but a day to be on the water! :( It was windy, cold and rainy. And that was the good parts! We limited out on salmon and crab but not one touch in 4 hours. Will be back on the water by the weekend.

Cheers All,

Please accept my shaking fingers from the cold for my poor typing performance. I should have hit the hot tub before typing my report. My posting should have read:

We limited out on PRAWNS and CRABS but not one SALMON touch in 4 hours.

Sorry for the confusion. Next charter is Saturday and my guests are wanting to explore for the first of the big ones so we should know if they are hiding.

Again, sorry for the confusion.
