Fished around the Fingers for a few hours tonight. Boated one that almost made the 20 pound mark. 65' down on a Nasty Boy. Heard of several others caught on the outside of the Fingers. One at 165 and another at 225.

Hi Hot Rods
What time were you out
Thanks

Hit the one at 165 on the splatterback, had another bite after that which had some pull then slipped off near surface. Just off the shelf of the fingers.

Hi guys gonna take my first trip out of Nanaimo this year with a buddy wednesday 7pm slack. Looking for the magic answer ; should we try out at Grande or the fingers. Was thinking splatter back but I'm up for any tips on lure and depths.? :|
Appreciate any tips.
By and the by was out at Balenas monday night trying the jig. Very little bite and never saw a fish taken on the troll or jig. Bait was scarce as all hell which accounts for no fish me guesses. About 5 small seals on the hunt for an easy dinner followed us around though. :o

I'll be out at the Grande tomorrow night. i usually fish in a 160 feet of water with my lines at 140 and 125. 3.5"coyotes in green/glow and Black/glow have been working for me as well as the splatter back. most of us on gabriola use channel 68 if you want to listen in.

Out last night from about 5 to dark with my bud, started at the grande to waterfall with a few other boats. Nothing happening in close or along the usual tack, so we went to Thrasher. Started off jigging for a couple of lings as it was slack. That took about 5 minutes, then we did a tack along the edge of the reef about 120'. one popoff and nothing. We continued around to the green can and I had a popoff that stuck for 30 seconds then my friend hooked a nice 14 lb'r that eluded the seal that wasn't far off then another couple of hits that didn't stick. The winner last night was green and white at 140'.

Sunday, from Cannery to Thrasher. Lots of wild Coho, a couple of which were a nice size but no hatcheries. Scattered bait and few fish marked.Quite slow for us.

Tuesday, Fingers to past Icarus. Bait was really scattered as were the fish. Dogfish, very immature Springs and Coho were plentiful and the odd small Ling here and there. Two slightly undersize Springs released past Rocky Point and one nice teener lost at boat when young fellow got behind the acrobatics. Lots of Pacific Cod so all was not lost.

Water was fairly sloppy both days but quite fishable, though we saw very few boats with lines down.

Always amazed to see so many stick boats that never seem to use the sails, but still cut you off or try to scrape down your side. There a few not bright students out there. :o

Decided to try Fingers tonight as time is tight for when I can get out there and Grande is about a 45 min boat ride for me only leaving 1 1/2 of fishing time.
Will report what we get and see and will be on 68 to here what im missing down there.
