Good water yesterday, not too much wind. Marked quite a bit of bait between Neck and Fingers, and decent numbers of fish that were mostly fairly deep. caught and released a few undersize and a couple of small Lings. We also picked up a number of P-Cod. Kept two (12 and 121/2 pounds) Spring. Only saw one seal and the sun even came out a couple of times. One other boat fishing, and one genius prawning using a boat bumper for a float.

Beautiful yesterday, not too cold, water flat! Lots of P-Cod, kept 6. Released at least 7 or 8 juvenile Springs, and boxed a 9 and 13+ pounder. They all fought way bigger than their size, a real hoot. Everything still on the same hootchie, nothing else working, and everything at 160 in 200 odd feet of water. Prawning was excellent, good size, with both of us limiting out.

Clarke Rock parallel up the Fingers, with loops into the basin towards Shack. The action was steady!

Went out with someone else yesterday, different boat. Threw back a couple of hundred prawns, kept our limits. Fishing dead slow, unlike last Sunday. One juvenile and 2 shakers released. Very little bait and less fish marked. wasn't even picking up p-cod. Very few boats out, despite decent wind/water conditions.

out again last week and yesterday. Lots of prawns dumped back both trips to stay within limits. P-Cod fairly plentiful but Springs still slow.

Heard a few reports from a guy saying there is some fish around Thrasher near the bottom at about 200 feet.

The Queen and I fished the Grande, around the flat tops to Thrasher for three days over New Years and never touched a fish. Quite a few showing on the sounder, but they wouldn't take anything we offered. Couple other boats were working the area as well and to my knowledge, zip. Thank goodness the prawns cooperated or the only enjoyment of the weekend would have been the excellent weather and beautiful cabin at Page's Marina.
On the way home, we spent a couple hours around Entrance with similar results.
Very seldom do we get that many flat days, especially in the winter.
