I've been invited to attend a meeting on May 27th. to review the Nanaimo Pink Fishery in 2009 and develop plans for 2010. Would appreciate any comments or suggestions anyone might have.

Have enforcement spend as much time on education as in enforcement on this particuliar fishery as it is very special and it is a stepping stone to future generations. Certainly hit the abusers HARD (and you know the ones to whom I am referring) but the family there and making honest mistakes...cut some slack so we don't chase them away from a fishery that was designed for them!

My 2 cents...

Right on 'fishing guide'. And make the regs simple!! This fishery was designed for the new angler to try to promote fishing and fishing families and maybe let the common man take home a fish or two. To go through all the trouble and effort to raise and release these fish and then make up a page full of difficult to understand rules, and then have DFO out there busting people makes no sense at all. There are no other fish (coho or chinook) out there that we are trying to protect. Let people have at it with whatever tackle they want. Blatent attempts at snaging should be the only thing being discouraged.
