Cheers BC,
There was a Boston Whaler at Brechin and they had a couple of marginally legal spring (very dark too) and one chum that already had bars on it's side. They said they caught it out in the deep water past Five Fingers.
I am doing better than 99.9999%...I am batting 100% Caught one 8 lbs wild off Neck Point and all the rest have been very small 4" - 10" coho grilse. All were targetted on charters and, despite being informed of the release restrictions as well as the minimially clipped coho locally, guests wished to fish coho. So...off we went....
Might take burn up to Nile Creek this week.

pretty sad talking about ECVI coho the way we do these days...growing up fishing the Winchelsea area we caught coho from May through to October. 2 oz weight and a herring...limits of 4 each were pretty normal all summer. Through the late 80's early 90's it gradually died off...1994 was phenominal, then someone flicked the switch and they disappeared

Cheers All,
At the risk of dating my age, I was married in Nanaimo on April 14, 1984. I took my best man and wedding party out fishing the day before...and limited out on blueback coho...average weight was 7 lbs. Could not keep them off and our limit was not long in obtaining. How things change.... *sigh..

Was out Tuesday just out in front near Clark and the Fingers. Caught lots of fish including juvenile salmon, cod, lings, rockers. Nothing worth bringing home. All the salmon on small spoons shallow, the rest, deep on hootchies and bucktails. Lots of bird activity around the Fingers and I saw a few good size Chum or Coho breaking surface but could not get a take with surface rod. Beautiful day though, good to get boat out for a run.
