could almost start a new thread on this topic

tuff debate

I think we need to create a sustainable fishery without over harvesting so all user groups can enjoy our fishery big problem is trying to supply a world market with our salmon stocks
as long was we have enough fish spawning to sustain the fishery we all can enjoy fishing regardless if you fish the rivers or oceans
problem is user groups cant come together to better out fishery

commercial fisherman for the most part cant agree with sporties then you add the first nation fishery in the mix and you have 3 user groups that cant seem to play nice together to come to a common goal and thats to fish/harvest and fish for years to come :(

No nets anywere indian or white open water or streams, and if you like your fish soft and you think that the 10,000 eggs its gonna lay or the monster load its carrying for germenating dosent mater for the stock return numbers than cool go gettem, all these little things add up to the returns and I'm no expert but DFO has never been the best people to manage a fish bowl let alone our stocks, I don't think that the thousands of sockeye they net really matter for the returns or chinooks in other river systems, back in the day dad buzz bombed his daily limits off the brick yard try that now the only thing you'll catch is a cold and every body blames the other guy simple for me to see that no nets anywere no river slaying of spawning salmon and it would help 8-)
P.S I'm a hill billy and am not educated in all the facts its just a opinion based on my theory of less pressure more fish and the big guy comercial 20 ton seiners and gill neters and the insane to me river net fishing we could due without, I personally won't put whool on a hook and pitch it in the river to play out a tired fish to near death at the end of its journey I would rather watch gary cooper or mark pendlington in the big ocean and re-live some good fishing times had through out the sumer months in the chuck with friends and make plans for the up coming season but not all people have a boat or the $$ to fish open water so that to me is the exception, I don't have anything else to say about nanaimo river except when I was a kid the banks were lined with people now nope not many and that says it all.
