Anyone been targeting the Nanaimo for coho yet? Took my kids to the hatchery on Sunday and it was loaded with pinks.
Vacation starts on Sunday and was hoping to hear of some Positive news.

i've never fished there before, but i am going there a week from now. I'm thinking of trying the provincial park, just downstream from the hatchery. i dont know what it will be like, there should be some coho kicking around, i don't know what they would bite on in there but i figure i'll just try every thing. fly guy

I put my first trip in yesterday and the coho are certainly in. I managed to nail one buy long line released it. Also saw chum starting to show themselves. Managed one rainbow while using my Colorado blade spinner.
Heading out again in the morning for another go. Hopefully the weather holds off.

They are anywhere from the marker where you're allowed to fish above the cedar bridge all the way up to the highway bridge.

Quick question, is fishing down from the cedar bridge... I guess that would be further north on Raines rd (I understand that fishing directly below and 400m up is not allowed at the moment in the fresh regs) considered a tidal zone?

It is not fishable. Found out the hard way a couple of years back. First nations will report you in a heartbeat!
I went out again yesterday and even with the high flow I still landed a couple of chrome coho. Took a pic and then back in they went.
Planning on headin out again tomorrow am.
Will try to post results.

I've fished down at the reserve, I talked to a couple of residents and they only asked that you don't park on the road side. The road is quite narrow and the school bus has to get by, you have to be respectfull, it is private and I noted a lot of guys left garbage behind?
