Cheers All,
Just finished smoking salmon (wet brine/hot smoke) and on the last batch of bagging my vacuume bagger broke. I called about repairs but was advised to purchase another one as parts are no longer available. I ordered a new one from the Excited States but it will be a few more days and I have a batch of Indian Candy coming out today.
Is there anyone local to Nanaimo who would rent me a unit for one hour? I have my own bags simply need the unit. Time is of the essence and any help is greatly appreciated.
Most sincerely,

FG, What was wrong with your sealer? For the Tillias most parts are available from tillia except the sealing heat strip. Ours died just as we were finishing the year. When I checked it out, the strip had broken in the middle and no heat. After some looking I found a company in the States that sells heat strip kits that will fit the tillia (probably any other as well). They come in various widths and the kit contains about 5ft of the heat strip and 5ft of teflon tape to cover it. All you need are a couple terminal ends to connect it up and your back in business. Didn't take 15 minutes to fix it. Kit cost $19 and the shipping is almost as much, but a lot cheaper than a new sealer. Their web site is http://www.mpakonline.com/

Cheers Stress Medicine,
My unit is almost as old as I am and, besides having a blown pump and sealing bar, was beat up and very tired. Retired the old gal and am in the process of purchasing a good one from Italy. Think part of my problem was that the replacement unit I used was fabulous and it showed what a lemon I had! As I use the unit quite a bit it is not a big stretch to replace it as I know it will pay for itself in the first summer.
Thank you for the information. If my unit was worth saving I would have gone that route.
