Looking into starting a winter project and I was hoping to get some input from other members?

Basically the boat is setup as inboard/outboard but currently has no power. So the options are:

Drop in a new/rebuilt gas engine
Drop in a diesel setup
Pod it and install outboard(s)

I would prefer to pod but I'm not sure if the budget will allow this and I'm concerned about the availability of diesel at the fuel docks? Anybody gone through the same decision any factors I need to consider that I might not be?

POD, it gives you more room and options for power!
You can hang alot of power off the back to equal the weight that you removed, plus the pod adds an extra source of bouyancy.

Yes it will cost more initially, but it works out in the long run. (Pod around $25-$2700.00 DSS Duncan + Motors and controls, I have a tig, so will build my own.)
You have to look at the maintinance costs of the I/O, the extra weight factor and that ugly dog house, that takes up at least 9sq.' of room! Both my boats will be podded, I have already started the work on my Sangster, and after I play with my new to me, whatever it is,I will do it also. :D

How hard is a diesel conversion? I'd definitely go the pod route myself, but I'm sure the costs can escalate quite quickly.

Good luck, and post pics along the way so us office types can learn a thing or two. :D
