I brought my two daughters with me when I went in on Thursday. There was even enough things there to keep my 3.5yr old busy. She kept looking at all the Barbie rods which gave me a chance to look at the more important things.

Do you know if they have all of their hootchies in yet?

Thanks,

Leischvost

The hootchies are not in yet. They have a pretty decent selection of 4 and 5 inch J-Plugs and small flashers though! I too missed seeing the gammies so I guess I will have to go back... :D

I went back on Saturday, they are definately behind the back desk. I am still waiting for the hootchies to arrive in full power, but in the meantime, I did manage to find a couple spatterback hootchies.

Very nice layout and if you are one who ties your own flies.... you are now in heaven!!

Cheers All,

I stopped by the new Wholesale Sports Store tonight to pick up a couple of lures. I will have to spend a bit of time there to determine everything they sell but, after discussing some items with management (i.e., they only have 65% of their stock in) then this is going to be a fisherman's playground. The prices were pretty good but some other stores have some better prices.

Will do a complete walk through with management next week and will give a detailed report then.

Off in am on a charter so...zzzzzzzzzzzz for me!

An example of pricing:
I stopped by at one of our well known sports stores and bought a couple of 5" Coyote spoons at $6.97 ea because it was on the way by.
I then proceeded to the new sports store and they were $5.15 ea.
I am not always going to quibble over a dollar or two but .... I may be inclined to stop at the new sports store first.

I've been in a couple of times now. Bought some camping stuff before the Aug long weekend etc. The fishing section is HUGE!!!. I will still buy my hootchies from PNT but they have some other stuff like those B2 Squid's etc.

To me it's not about the pricing so much but the selection. The being able to see and pick up items you want to buy and know what they are like for quality etc. I used to order some stuff out of their catalogue mail order now I can go there and see it and check it out in person without goin to Alberta  :D .

The best part is they are open till 9 on thurs. and fri.

I agree about the price issue. I have found better prices at Wally world on items, but there is next to nothing for selection. Coming from the south end, the extra couple miles to wal-mart from the wholesale place adds up to the difference in price... even if nominal. I didn't use to buy tackle from Gone Fishin, Harbour Chandler, etc. I always used to buy it at Canadian tire because of the selection and price.

This store for me makes a lot of sense....

I haven't even played in the clothing department yet.... still so much to explore!!

Out here they concentrate more on the Hunting and Fresh water end, I can only imagine the Saltwater selection there!
As far as the Box Store, YES, but thats how they can give better pricing. Wholesale is in 3 provinces and I heard that they are now opening up in the States as well (Wash.?)

Prior to Wholesale Sports starting in Calgary, there was a similiar smaller store called Frenchy`s, which I understand eventually became Wholesale Sports.
Frenchy`s had a fire in their store which shut down their operations.
A short time later they opened up accross the street, where they were supposedly going to sell their smoke and water damaged stock at reduced prices. The prices were reduced some where in the range of 30 or 40% and people came from far and wide to snap up these bargains.
The suprising thing about this sale was that, the only stock which was smoke or water damaged, was the stuff which they were never able to sell in their other store, and would sit in your tackle box unused forever.
They sure got rid of a lot of stuff though.
