Quote from seadog: "Sadly thou, boat behind us, had a heart attack, and I beleive I heard he died"

We were out there that day and from what I understand they were fishing at Beano and had landed a fish, slime on the deck and went back to fishing, water was rough and the father slipped on the slime hitting his head on the boat. We saw the coast guard rigid hull go by us on the way out and they were doing CPR on him on him the way back, sadly he didn't make it. Not the best fishing trip for the family for the son was running the boat.

Just got back yesterday from Nootka, worst trip (fish wise) we ever had, luck just wasn't with us this time. We picked up a few, nothing to write home about and we didn't get skunked, as stated the weather/water was not the greatest and we did a lot better when we were up there for the last week of June this year.

A lesson for all, clean the deck up after landing a fish, especially in rough water

Was there for that unfortunate episode, listened to the frantic VHS messages from the son, complete fear in his voice for his dad. My boat was quiet for quite some time...... Accidents happen...some are preventable...some not.....do what you can.

Mule, can't say that we had a stellar trip for fish either...enough to book another trip this year but not the bounty I had wanted or expected. I've always approached bringing fish in the boat as the "Bonus", we had a fantastic time regardless. I'm sorry to say this....but glad it wasn't just me not catching ;-) Reassuring.... We'll slay them next time though...... right?

Fishing is just like hunting, you can't fill all the tags, all the time and either hunting of fishing we have always had a good time but it's usually a little better time if we get a few animals or fish

This last trip was just on the weird side, 3 boats & 6 people, one boat could do no wrong, the other, one person could do no wrong while the other just watched him haul them in and then there were us watching the other two boats haul them in. All in the same area, same bait, same depth, speed etc...........things just go that way and I guess it was our turn this time. That's why it's called fishing and not catching ;)

Your right, we'll slay them next time :D
