Well the big northerns are starting to make an appearance.I started targeting these coho a couple of weeks ago when i started picking them up spring and sockeye fishing. This is my favorite species of salmon and i wait intently for them to show up every year.they tend to be out farther in the straights past the 400 foot mark, cruising the tidelines feeding on various baitfish.however i do pick them up all over at times.i have not seen alot of them yet ,but there have been alot of whales around the sooke area lately.
I have managed to pick up three hatchery keepers in my last 2 trips out ,released 4 wilds, biggest one at 15lbs.They seem to be running a bit deeper,80 feet seems to work for me.I use local herring that i caught myself, wire rigged in various teaser colours. Most hootchies, squirts and spoons will also produce.
Troll at a fast speed ,coho,s like action and bling.Mini flashers, spinner flashers all work well.Good luck and happy fishing Ss out..................

ya i guess ,,but next year i'm gonna take out friends who never get to go out,i'm just going to say pay for fuel, since i do have a well equiped grady w.,but one halli in five years and my 8 fish a year i don't think really puts a dent on the fish population,,not like some who limit out 4 day's a week,,,,t.h,

Regs are regs. Follow them. One fish or not.

i just love the fact that regs are determend by usless tits in ottawa, and who only support the n people,,,,,,,,i think there is way to much policing these days, we are talking about fish, and they have been a food source for ever as long as we don't take more than we need,

Your clueless. First off most regs arent decided by "useless tits in ottawa".Secondly your posts make you sound like a poacher. Fish are not a resource that can handle the pressure thats being applied to them. Look at the shape of stocks all over the world, its depressing. Saying there is to much protection (policing) of our fish stocks is mind boggling.

ok then who does regulate the fisheries,,not b.c. but federal enforcement and if you read you will see where that comes from,,,and i did not say fish are over protected i ment too much policing in general,as for, saftey,hp rating, boat licencing, ect, you can't even go to a lake these days to play around towing the kids on a tube without having these usless cops harrasing you,,the last one ,was they actually wanted to see the boats paperwork while on a jetski,,,can you fathem that,,,you know my brother is or was a caption of a 1,200 foot oiltanker, and he laughs at the rediculas stipulations here in canada,,,,and 8 fish a year and i'm a poacher,,,maybe i should stand on a river bank like some(who never get bothered)and use a 200 foot net,,,tim hazelwood
