I was talking with a friend about overall salmon numbers in the ocean, and he told me about a report that there are more salmon in the worlds waters right now, than ever before in history due to the hatchery/enhancement programs. And the problem with this is that the feed in the ocean can not meet the demand for the salmon. Anyone, read or hear about this report?

I've never heard it put that way - but I know Alaska is huge into ocean ranching and releases massive amounts of fry and collects them at the river mouths when they come back. I've heard they are major competition for wild fish but I don't think our local enhancement programs are competing with wild fish because the wild fish from their runs don't exist anymore.

How true but sad is that.

Question on the Alaskan bristol bay sockeye runs, are those all natural or are they hatch job sock's mixed in there because they seem to have 40+ million fish enter that bay every year and they commercially catch 32+ million of those runs year after year.
