Good Luck Geek! I have been in Port Alice for almost a year now (formally Nanaimo/Victoria), and my experiences and insight suggests the community is beginning to bustle again. Of course, the fishing and prawning is at your doorstop, whales in the inlet from time to time, all the services a person wants for a vacation or rental property (great municipal community services - inc. free boat launch, marina, grocery and hardware stores, gas station, liquor store, etc. and no street lights As the mill go's so does the price of housing - I'd say that now is the time to buy!
Hope this provides a bit of local insight for any prospective investors.

BB - I saw the price at the top right corner of the first page that pops up. I beleve it is $66,900.00. 299,900 in Nanaimo and 499,900 in Victoria!

Ya great spot I was working the mill the last two weeks, I could watch the crab & prawn traps from our deck and pulled them after work with great results .

Yes the price is $66,900. I hate to sell but work has been crazy and we haven't been able to use it as much as we hoped.
Port Alice is a great little town. Clean, friendly, and a good location for fishing, crabbing, and prawning.
I am in the contracting buisness and did a total reno of the place. New fixtures, flooring, bathroom, refinished the cabinets and counters, and painted throughout. It is like new, ready to use!
