The extra wrap is cutting the stoppers into. They cut and popoff when hitting the pulley. Without the extra wrap they will slide as needed. As far as locater clip, has anyone tried the heat shrink tubing?

Have enough hours (over 100 now) on the bead wrap idea to confirm that the beads DO stay in place.
Have also confirmed that the extra wrap does put extra stress on the beads and you must keep an eye on them because they DO break more often than before.
You can predict a break when the bead starts to bend into a banana shape.
Anyone have the ability to make beads out of Zytel LOL.
Anyhow, at this point the risk:reward ratio is acceptable to me and I'll keep doing the extra wrap.

I use 150 lb power pro and tried the extra wrap on the stoppers. Sorry to say the line cut through the stopper and they would blow off. Fortunately they blew off in the shut off box so that the rigger stopped before hitting the clip.
Nice idea but it's not going to work.

This technique continues to work fine for me and I'm running 15 lb balls on 175 braid. I am however using the old style green/black stoppers so that may be a factor. I have had no cut threws or bananas. That may be a factor if they are a stronger plastic. Dunno!

Interesting. I may have to give it try with the old ones.
