In the Comox area, prawns are now virtually non-existant in many of the usual spots. has anyone noticed the same thing down south?? Cant blame it on the commercials here. as they had poor fishing too.

Cheers,

It was a total disaster here too! Slowest year I can recall. :(

It was dead around Nanoose way before Commercial opened. No way it was monitored by DFO

Just found out today from a friend who is a commercial c-tow skipper and diver that trawlers/draggers have destroyed Haro straight. Told me it is a wasteland compared to what it was. I'm sure Georgia is the same. Dfo insanity continues. :!:

It was an excellent year in Crofton/Chemainus area in April because DFO kept the commies to a 3 week opening the previous year. The commies had a full season this year in Stuart Channel with 8 boats working that I know of and it's absolutely devastated now.
Good thing DFO is putting back in a pulse fishery for this area for the sporties. You all know how devastating we are on the prawn stocks with our 4 traps set for a few hours :o

Been slower around Nanaimo for 2 years now. Used to occasionally get a limit in one trap, isn't anywhere near that right now. Hoping they come back.
