Congratulations on your purchase!! I've recently re-powered with a 2009 90 hp Suzuki and the break in period (as per the book) is as follows: For the initial 2 hours: allow sufficient warm up time (5 minutes at the dock). After warm up, run the engine at idle in the lowest gear for 15 minutes. During the remaining 1 hour and 45 minutes operate engine at 3000 r/min or less then 1/2 throttle in gear. For the next 1 hour operate engine at 4000 r/min or 3/4 throttle in gear. For the next 7 hours you can do as you wish, just do not operate at full throttle for more than 5 minutes at time. Hope all goes well for you. I'm lovin' my new Suzuki!

A 90, that was actually the ideal motor that I wanted to buy but came across this one in Port Alberni. I am replacing a 200 merc 2 stroke which just killed me in fuel . Thanks for the info about the breaking in. So once the motor is warmed up, I can use the main to get me away from the dock or should I use the kicker. I am thinking I would be safer and quicker to use the kicker. So it is only a 10 hour break in period eh. Happy boating to you dr hook and thanks for the info

I would use the main motor, and yes, the breakin period is 10 hours. Have fun with the new motor! I find I have the exact same gas milage as my carborated 50 Honda which ran near WOT most of the time. Even though yours doesn't have some of the newer technology of the 2009 models, I'm sure you will have much better fuel economy over the larger 2 stroke.
