Wind might make for tough casting but fish feed more recklessly when it's blowing.

Certain Gulf Islands have decent Cutt fishing.

Not sure where you were fishing Moisture Missile, but there was no creek mouth at the spot I frequented for years with great success. I'm going to try and paste a satellite link for the first time - http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s ... 1&t=h&z=15.

After you drive through the band land you arrive at the sand spit - drive right out. I fished the west side with great success. This location is gold.

Good luck everyone!

that's saanichton spit - been to a few ripping parties out there but never fished it. Its not terribly far from reay creek in sidney and there is another creek that flows into that area I believe to so makes sense.

Have you been out there recently, sure a lot closer to my neck of the woods then sooke.

"Ripping Parties" - that would explain why there was $5-$6 of empties when I arrived on Sunday mornings. I always picked them up and used the money to for flies or tying material. Thanks!

I moved out of Victoria many years ago and haven't been back to that spot during my periodic returns. I also recall that Bazan Bay was a popular cutty spot. It's a little north/west of the spit.

I'm no searun expert but yes they will be found way up river in the fresh and out along the beaches a good distance from the actual river.

The key is to find them or if there is tons of fry around you know there should be a few close by.

Another good tip is to not go pounding into the water, I've seen them often in very close to shore.
