we fished in a small benefit derby for a friend who was in a bad accident. About 10 boats or so in the derby but not a lot of fish weighed in.

We managed into 9 fish with the largest being just under 8lbs and the derby winner was 8.4 - so it was a matter of ounces.

We covered a lot of water and found a few new spots that hold fish and had a great day on the water - just no biggies in the sidney area yesteday.

With the new hali regs, the price of gas I will be spending some time in the sidney area this year staying at the family's place. I will have to look at tides and see when is the best time for a visit.

We did a few hours out in the cold on Sat. - just 2 undersized fish to show for it. We popped over to saanich inlet to jig some herring, found the herring but forgot the jigs :(
