The "run" being Sockeye? There's not much else in there right now.
Anything below Papermill dam is considered saltwater...anything above it is fresh.
DFO says "just say no" to Sockeye in fresh water.
I don't know the boundary line for Socks right now in the harbor...if there is one at all. Check DFO site or regs.
If it's open all the way to Papermill there's a couple of places near the Quay where you can huck a line...but it's not very deep there and if people see you are fishing their first thought is always that the guy is trying to foulhook them.
I know guys that jig for Socks at China Creek out of a boat with very good success. All the fish are hooked in the mouth when they bite.
But jiggers are looked down upon by the majority around here because everyone thinks they are not jigging but snagging.
You can cast at Papermill......but be prepared to stand in line for your turn to cast.
Again...check the regs first as to if and where there is any boundary line in the harbor before you do anything.
Cheers......
