went out, thurs, nov 18.very nice day, sunny breaks and no wind.fishing for feeders and caught a 14lb late run wild northern coho.put up a hell of a fight.the fish was deep 120 feet on the downrigger and in 180 feet of water.on an anchovy, wire rigged in purple haze teaser.this wily coho hit and ran for 100 yards and then paused and ran another 200 feet,i was getting low on line and i have alot.she finally stopped and i got her turned and come up.on the surface it went straight for a kelpbed and started thrashing around,i figured that was it.had the other gear up by this time so we turned the boat and went back for this stubborn coho.she got out of the kelp bed very tired and it was an easy net for the prize.Ss out...........

went out off Sooke on the Vicious Fisher,my 24'Bellboy,for winter spring on a fine sunday dec 5,2010.little wind and flat water.Picked up 3 nice feeders 5,6, and 8 lbs .Very nice fine table salmon. Also a lot of easy released juveniles.First one and the largest was caught shortly after slack on the ebb tide.Anchovy in a glow teaser(my standard setup in winter)i also use herring that i get from baitballs in the summer.Fishing close to the bottom with just two rods.I am up and down on the troll speed ,trying to induce strikes, however they seem to like a fairly quick spin on the bait.Running the gear farther back from the downrigger quick release is another tactic i use for winter springs.Good luck and happy fishing.SS out.........
