Here we go let's start the post, and start migrating from SPFBC. Already like this site.

Fishing is slow right now so I have heard. Going to give it a shot this Sat. Hope wind doesn't blow...

smiley welcome aboard, I know your posts from SFBC - great to have you here.

Enough BS'n though and back to fishin. From another thread:

Quote:
Lots of coho in 400' of water today, didn't try for any springs as I think its still pretty slow. Hooked about 20 or so in a couple of hours with a few pinks in the mix.

Ran the steelhead rods with coyotes and dummy flashers and a couple fish on hootchies/mini flashers. Here's a couple of typical sooke coconuts

I forgot to mention that most action was around 30' which makes things a lot more fun as they tend to rocket right to the surface. Its not fun dragging a 6lb coho up from 100'.

Wednesday - My son and I were out in Beecher Bay after work today and man was it snotty. We didn't hook into any fish but we got wet. One other boat not to far from us took a nasty wave over the side. We saw a couple of smallish coho at the cleaning table and the dock boy at Cheanuh marina said a 34 lb spring came in earlier today.

thanks for the update vicman and welcome to the forum. I did read on SFBC that there was some action at posession today so lets hope that's a sign of things to come.

Anyone been out? Going out Tom to Posession area down to Beachy. Sounds like there are some pinks around?

yup tons of pinks flopping all over the place out there. I was just down at cheanuh picking up some gear from the boat and only saw one spring come in. It was a nice one 29lbs - but for derby day you'd think there would be a steady stream.

I haven't been out in a while. It's killing me. Pinks are sure fun when the springs aren"t around or biting. That's what got me interested in salmon fishing five or six years ago. Jigging for pinks. Does anyone ever flyfish for them on the surface, or run flyrods off the downrigger? Seems like the light gear would be a hoot.

out today a bit west of race and a little slower then the last week or so. The coho seem to have moved off(maybe back west) and the pinks not as numerous. They are still there for sure and my guests got their limits of pinks with one spring from out in the tidelines.

I didn't start really hitting the pinks until I got about half way to the USA border, where as the last little while they seemed closer.

Same thing, pink squirts and any flasher. I did hear of one boat getting 4 springs at the crack of dawn at the trap but I didn't witness it myself.

out for a 4-hour stint this morning - epic weather out there, almost too hot! The coho seem to be all but gone and the pinks were definitely slower then the past few days. They are still out there but I really had to work for them and pink fishing isn't that much fun when you have to work for them.

I didn't do any spring fishing but from all reports its dead as ever.
