I have only fished for squid in Australia. We used a squid lure which we trolled at slow speed. Just Google Campbell's Protackle in Perth, Australia for the lures. They look like other lures except they have what looks like a bunch of bent nails on the end of the lure.

Squid Jigs are available @ most commercial places but I've only seen Squid that were catchable further north around Hakai Pass. I'd love to catch one of those big Humboldts for a Calamari feast-maybe they'll be close enough to target.
