I am about to purchase a couple of cannon ball molds to help reduce the cost of ownership.

In my thought process I started to wonder if anyone else out there would like to reduce their cost of fishing.

If I were to come up with 12lb and 15lb balls with lead fins - what would people consider to be a great price to buy one at?

I for one am not impressed at having to pay $30 plus taxes for a 12lber and $37 for a 15lb ball.

Comments, thoughts, consideration of prices would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking somewhere in that 25 and 28 mark but am open to suggestions.

Of course this would be tax free as well.

Let me know what you all think.

You're hardly the first person to pour in their garage you can see adds for home poured balls on Craigslist and other places on the net all summer-anyway the going rate is $2/lb.

Be a little cautious re tax free as Gov would tend to view this as a business venture and would want their pound of flesh. If they chose to do so, they could come after "their" tax plus penalties. It wouldn't be the first time they lay in the weeds and then came after someone. I don't know that this would be a problem but cya is never a bad thing.
cheers

I appreciate the input... I wasn't sure what to do if I sold anything with regards to taxes cus it might only be a couple of balls or something.

I think that $2 per lb is the right money as well.

As a side note. Does anyone know of any local place (Nanaimo) that allows you to buy individual pieces of spinners - ie - blades, wire, bodys, clevises, etc.?

The only thing I can find is back east and it is an online store.

Thanks in advance.

There has been lots of DR balls sold last year by back yard doers. Seems like the going price was about $20 for 12lbers. Be very careful about melting lead in a closed area, the fumes can be deadly. That being said, I would be interested in a couple of 15lbers,....................BB

Sounds good. I was thinking that there might be others looking for 15lb's as well.

As for the melting process, it would be done in my backyard under a tarped area or something.

I agree about the fumes - definately keeping breathability in mind!

I'll let you know.

I am going to order the molds in the next couple of days.

Leichvost, try Gone Fish'n. I know the store in Courtney had some of the items you are asking about. I remember buying some blades, clevises, etc from a store in Duncan, but that was a while ago, the name escapes me at this moment. Just goggle and I'm sure you would find it. At this time of year you will probably find most stores inventory are rather low. I know that Wholesale doesn't have blades in stock, as I checked a couple of weeks ago.
