Hello guys.
I'm new to the forum so a bit (never been before) of a novice at saltwater salmon fishing. I will be renting a beach house near Sooke for my honeymoon at the end of June and will hopefully be fishing off a couple of rocky points there. Will I be in with a chance of a salmon and if so what tactics would I use from shore? If no Salmon then what species can I expect to be covering?
Thanks and regards.

Lots of ifs. If Coho are around/close to shore/feeding actively one of these used properly might work. Zzinger lures I actually prefer them over the original Buzz Bomb.

end of june last year I was hitting lots of coho up to about 10lbs, mostly out a bit but a few in right close to rocks.
Find otter point on a map, its in sooke and a great place to shore cast for springs and coho. Another option is beechy head in sooke park, its a long walk but you'll be able to cast to where the boats fish.
If there are fish around you have a reasonable chance of catching something.

Thanks for the reponses guys. I'll pick up a couple of zingers and will find the locations mentioned. Only questions left are how do I fish the zingers? Do I fish deep and slow, with added weight, fast and high or does it vary on the day? And what colours are preferable?
Thanks again,
John

Follow the instructions on the package-never add weight.
The first colour shown-White w/pale Blue edge is the best one IMO, then Chrome then everything else.

Ok, I've been out and bought a few Zzingers and a couple of Buzzboms. I'll get some more from the local tackle shop once I get there. I also bought myself a new reel that wasn't intended so those Zzingers were expensive!
Thanks a lot for your help. I'll let you know how I get on.
